Ghee

What is Ghee? Ghee is a clarified butter that is commonly used in Indian cooking. Ghee is healthy and suitable for high temperature cooking. Since I do a lot of stir-frying I love using ghee. It smells so buttery! (hello, that’s because it is butter!!!)

This one takes longer to make, but it is more of the waiting around time instead of the active preparation time. So, I still consider this as simple and easy.

Kerrygold Unsalted Butter

Ingredients:

  • Grass Fed Butter (I like Kerrygold brand, you can use any butter you want. However, my purpose of making my own ghee is to have an affordable good quality fat.  If you don’t care about grass fed fat, you can just buy ready made ghee they’re inexpensive. Ready made grass fed ghee on the other hand, is pricey).

Directions:

  • Melt butter on low heat.

Butter in the pan

  • It will start making bubbles.

After 5 Minutes Simmering

  • Milk solids start to separate.
  • Wait until milk solids browned on the bottom of the pan.
