Weekdays are usually not the days for me to be making complicated dishes. Oh, who am I kidding? No day is a good day for making a complicated dish. I like the idea of having protein, vegetables and carb in one pot dish. One pot to stir and wash, easy peasy. You just need to gather some … Continue Reading ››
This crunchy pork belly takes a little bit of planning to make. Most of the work involved is to be done before the marinating process. This is ideal if you are preparing the pork belly for the next day or at least 6 hours before your meal.
I like to make this dish when I know everybody … Continue Reading ››
For some people comfort food is mac and cheese, for me it is pork belly and dried pickled mustard. Eating this reminds me of when I still lived at home, when I didn't have to worry about what to make for dinner and my afternoons were filled with naps. The joys of being a kid.
I haven't … Continue Reading ››
I ate a lot of unusual food growing up in Indonesia. To me, it was just food. I won't mention the things that I ate here, just because I want to keep this blog family friendly. When I moved to the States, I noticed that most people only eat beef, pork, chicken and some seafood … Continue Reading ››

This Shiitake Meatloaf recipe is a modification of NomNom Paleo's Asian meatballs. I have made it several times before and it was delicious. The only gripe I have is that making 36 little balls took a while.
The good thing with the little balls is that they cook faster than a big chunk of … Continue Reading ››
I love roasted brussel sprouts, but if I roast them I ended up having to finish everything, because my kids usually gag when they see brussel sprouts in their original form. I might have traumatized them with bad tasting brussel sprouts (live and learn).
I tried to make brussel sprouts that don't look like brussel sprouts … Continue Reading ››
When I see long food, all I can think of is to make a some kind of wrap out of it. My favorite ingredient to wrap it with is egg and my favorite long food is asparagus. Instead of pig in a blanket, I'll be making asparagus in a blanket (although there will be some pig involved … Continue Reading ››
In our family, weekdays' breakfasts are usually better than weekend breakfasts. Why? Because, I want to sleep in on the weekends. Last night I peeked in the fridge to see what I have and try to figure out what to make for breakfast. Here's what I found: Eggs, Leeks, and Bacon.
