I used to buy my almond butter all the time. My favorite brand is Justin’s Nut Butter Maple Almond Butter. One day I came across a bread recipe that use a lot of almond butter and I didn’t have enough. But I have bags of raw almond sitting around. So, I tried making my own almond butter. After that, I don’t buy almond butter anymore.
Ingredients:
- Almonds (enough to fill a little less than half of your food processor container)
- Cinnamon (optional)
Tool:
Directions:
- Put the almonds in the food processor fitted with the S blade, and turn it on.
- When the almonds are all finely grounded and stick up to the sides of the food processor, stop it and scrape the almonds with a spatula.
- Run the food processor again, usually you will need to scrape the almonds from the sides a few more times.
- When the almonds stop sticking up the sides, it will look like a sticky ball, just keep running the food processor until the almond butter is smooth and creamy.
- Transfer to a glass jar.
Note:
- The food processor will become hot, so the almond butter will not be completely raw.
- You can mix in the cinnamon at any time, just make sure it is well blended.
- I like my almond butter plain, this way I can use it in different recipes.
