Beef adobo is a variation of chicken adobo. It is a filipino dish that is super easy and delicious. I usually make chicken adobo but I don’t have chicken right now. So, beef will have to do.
I love making adobo because I always have the ingredients on hand at all times. It’s the perfect emergency last minute dish. The combination of soy sauce, brown sugar and vinegar makes the dish fool proof. You just can’t go wrong with these.
I will be using my pressure cooker because it is a lot faster and the meat will come out very tender. If you are not using a pressure cooker you need to cook it for more than an hour.
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds of cubed beef (you can also use chicken or pork)
- 1/2 cup of vinegar (I use Apple Cider Vinegar but any vinegar will do)
- 1/2 cup of soy sauce (or Coconut Amino if you’re on Paleo diet)
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 5 cloves of chopped garlic (more or less)
- Ground pepper
Directions:
- Heat up your pressure cooker on the stove and brown the chopped garlic.
- Add cubed beef to the pan and mix with the garlic.
- Add vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar and pepper.
- Mix well.
- Close your pressure cooker and turn the heat to high.
- When the pressure builds up (I wait for mine to show two lines; yellow and green) turn down the stove to low, and time it for 30 minutes.
- Turn the heat off after 30 minutes. You can leave it until the pressure is released naturally or you can run cold water on your pressure cooker (on the sink of course) to immediately release the pressure.
- You’re done. Enjoy your Beef Adobo!
Tips:
I usually prepare an easy side dish while waiting around for the beef to cooked. Today I’m making zoodles to go with my beef adobo. This also goes well with rice.
